Saturday, August 26th 2017 will be talked about for years, in the professional fighting world. The professional sports of Boxing and Mixed Martial Arts will clash, with two of each sports respective titans, in what is being named “The Money Fight”.
Floyd “Money” Mayweather who has an unblemished record of 49-0 with 26 KO’s will face the “The Notorious” Conor McGregor who has a Mixed Martial Arts Record of 21-3 with 18 KO’s. It should be noted that although McGregor has lost, he has never lost on his feet in a traditional boxing or striking position. His losses have only come from the ground where unlike boxing, most MMA matches end.

The Wildcard
Both fighters originally agreed to use 10 ounce gloves for the 154 pound matchup however both athletes petitioned the Nevada State Athletic commission for 8 ounce gloves after McGregor insisted. The Commission approved the use of the 8 ounce gloves that are traditionally only used for fights contracted under 147 pounds.
The “Money Belt”
The winner of the fight will receive a special belt named “Money Belt” that was revealed on August 23rd by the WBC. The “Money Belt” is made from alligator leather and has been encrusted with 1.5kg of 24k gold, 300 emeralds, 600 sapphires and 3,360 diamonds.
The Payday
When you look at the payday of this mega fight there will clearly be no losers. Both fighters signed a non-disclosure agreement so the exact details are unknown. However, Money Mayweather is expected to earn a minimum of $100 million, with reportedly up to 4 times that amount, if certain viewing milestones are met. McGregor on the other hand is expected to make more in this one fight, than he has in his entire career in MMA. It is said that McGregor will earn at least $75 million.
